Unit 4 - Design Studio Overview

Purpose:

The goal of this unit is to do a collaborative design. Design is often best done face-to-face. I had planned to follow the process described in chapters 3 and 4 of LeanUX. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing recommendations, however, teams will not be able to meet as a group. I have therefore adapted our process with a series of individual deliverables and remote team meetings.

Process Overview

The first 3 steps are part of Design Studio A. The last 3 are in Design Studio B.

1. User outcomes. Shared document probably best.
2. Feature brainstorm. All students do individually, share documents.
3. Feature analysis. Remote meeting/discussion. Submit Design Studio A.
4. Design studio individual sketches. All students do individually, share documents.
5. Presentation and critique. Remote meeting/discussion.
6. Team idea generation. Remote meeting OR shared docs. Submit Design Studio B.
