CSCI 448 Mobile App Development : Final Project

The Pickleball4All app is a simple app used for scheduling, checking in, and keeping track of pickleball games. It offers reservations for open and private games with a list of times available at the gym. Users can easily check in by scanning a QR code provided by the gym. The app also has the option to save games along with the players and scores. Pickleball is a game often enjoyed by senior citizens, so this app is intended to be visually simplistic, straightforward, and easy to use. The app has three main functions: registration, check in, and games.

REGISTRATION

The new registration page offers a list of available slots with the corresponding dates and times. The user can choose open play or private game. There is also an option to change the number of players in the registration. Before submitting the registration the user is shown details of their reservation to confirm as well as a map picture. Clicking the picture will open up a map centered at the gym. After a registration is submitted, it can be viewed and edited from the current registrations page.

CHECKIN

The check in page is very simple. It informs the user to check in using a QR code to be provided at the gym and has a button that opens the user's camera.

GAMES

The games page can be used to create and view games, as well as overall game statistics. Games can be created for doubles or singles and will store the names of players and teams. Games can be used to keep track of the team scores and then saved for later and/or marked finished. Saved games can be reviewed, deleted, or edited from the View Games page. The game menu also has a page of game statistics including favorite team name, most points scored by teams/player, games finished, and more.

The idea for Pickleball4All came from the HUB Sports Center, a gym that hosts a lot of casual and tournament pickleball games. While they offered many drop-in type sessions in the past, the events over the past year have led to the necessity of registration and limiting capacity. This inspired the idea for a user-friendly mobile registration option (in addition to the website).
