WELCOME!
If you've reached this site and are not currently enrolled, then we assume you are looking for information about next semester. Well good thing you came here, we have all (well hopefully all) your answers.

CSCI 261 Programming Concepts will be offered at SIX (6) different times next spring! These times are: 8AM, 9AM, 10AM, 11AM, 12PM, and 3PM. All six sections will be taught using C++, there is no longer a Java section so that should hopefully remove some confusion about what language you are registering for. You are registering for C++.

We will be continuing to use our Silver and Blue distinctions. If you have no prior programming experience or very little programming experience, we recommend that you register for a Silver section to be in an environment where all students will have similar experience as you. If you have prior experience (for instance through a high school course (in C++, Java, Python) or have taken CSCI101), we recommend that you register for a Blue section to be in an environment where all students are at a similar level to you. The Silver sections will be offered at 8AM, 9AM, 11AM, and 3PM. The Blue sections will be offered at 10AM and 12PM.

If you still have questions, please contact Dr. Jeffrey Paone at jpaone {at} mines {dot} edu.

There is a Sample Exam from Fall 2014 that you can take. Finally, there are two sets of practice questions Part I and Part II for you to complete prior to class Monday. Each set that you complete will be worth 2 extra credit points.

We are nearing the end of Module 4. Exam I will cover all material from Modules 1-4. Therefore, Assignment 06 is the last assignment due before the Exam. It will require you to use all of the skills you have learned to solve the problem (conditionals, loops, functions, and data types). Do not wait until Tuesday night to start, you can get started on this right after Wednesday's lecture.

Look at the schedule page for everything coming up as we approach Fall Break.

We're way ahead right now! With Module 3 (Looping) starting on Wednesday, Week04 is already available if you are ready to get ahead.

Congratulations! You turned in your first assignment! What a relief :) If you haven't done so already, please take a couple minutes to complete the survey on the Resources Page about the past week. We do look at these results and read all the comments. We will work to change what we can during the semester and take the feedback into account for next semester. You will be helping yourselves and your fellow students in the future. We appreciate your comments.

We will be beginning Module 2 (Boolean Expressions & Conditionals) on Friday so begin Chapter 2 in zyBooks to be ready.

Hopefully you have been finding the website easy to use. The rest of the Week01 labs are up (Lab01C and Lab01D) so you can get a start on them. Moving forward, multiple labs will be released at a time so you can move to the next one if you finish a lab early.

08/23/2016
Assignment01 has gone out and the first two labs are out. Lab01A is a very important lab that you will be referring back to many times early on. Be sure to read the steps carefully and become familiar with the process.

Welcome to CSCI 261 - Programming Concepts! While there is not too much here just yet, here is a quick guide to where everything is. You will be able to find the labs & homework assignments on the assignments page. As we cover more topics and more examples are used in class, they will become available on the resources page. The schedule page will list the reading required for the upcoming class - you will want to visit this page most often. Until then, be sure to look at the syllabus and familiarize yourself with the course and this website. Read all of the pages, especially those linked on the resources page
