CSCI 446 Unit #7 Team

Class Participation

Since your final team project will use Node, Express and Mongo, it's important for all team members to get off to a good start. I do not live in the Golden area, so cannot provide individual support (email support for installing programs is often not effective). Team members should therefore work together to ensure everyone can install the necessary programs and create accounts on Heroku.

Assignment

  1. The team must submit a planning memo (described below) by Feb 23
  2. If any team member is unable to complete Unit #7, all team members will receive a deduction in class participation points (i.e., you really must work together on this critical lab; let me know of any issues)

Memo

Create a brief text file (maybe just one sentence) that describes how you will support each other.

Ideally you'll find a time you can all work together - several days before the due date - and your memo would be something like "Team is meeting on Saturday to work together."

Another option, if that's not possible, would be for team members to attempt this on their own but set a backup time to meet if needed. The memo might be something like "We think we'll be able to do this individually, but plan to meet on Monday night if anyone has issues."

Submit your text file, one copy per team, on Canvas.

Piazza

As mentioned before, this course covers open source tools which change rapidly. Why this is awesome: you're learning to work on the cutting edge, becoming familiar with tools that will look good on your resume. The downside: it can be difficult to find accurate information, as textbooks and web posts may all relate to prior versions of the tools. For example, even though I chose a text with a 2016 copyright, I discovered a variety of issues while working through the chapters. It is likely that you will encounter more - so please share anything you learn with your classmates.
